ADDRESS & DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat
430 Otter Rock Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714
(828) 358-4326 (call or text)
info@mmecoretreat.com
Use Google Maps or Waze to find us, don’t use Apple Maps as it will often try to auto-correct our address to a location 45-minutes away. Entering “Mount Mitchell Eco Retreat” into your map search (instead of the address) seems to work great, but also try navigating to Clear Creek Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714 - once on Clear Creek Road our driveway (Otter Rock Road) is the first turn onto the gravel road. Then just keep driving up the hill towards the Main Lodge and follow signs to your specific lodge (Mitchell, Pisgah, Winter Star, or Clear Creek). See a property map here: PROPERTY MAP

WI-FI and CELL RECEPTION
Our secluded mountain retreat has fast fiber internet!
WI-FI NETWORK: Eco Retreat - Guest (no password required)
CELL SERVICE: We are in a remote area with limited reception, which will allow you to really cut off during your stay! Consider using FaceTime, Zoom, Meet and other video chat options that don’t need cellular. Wi-Fi calling is also an option, learn more about it and other cellular suggestions on our FAQ page.

FOOD & COFFEE
We have a large community kitchen in the Main Lodge for guests to take care of their food needs. We provide two stoves/ovens, two sinks/dishwashers, two fridges, lots of counter space, and all the necessary cookware. All food, including oils, spices, will need to be brought with you. Stock up on groceries in Burnsville, Spruce Pine, and Marion before making your way to our secluded retreat as the towns are 25+ minutes away. The closest restaurant is Hawtree’s, which is part of Mount Mitchell Golf Club, just a couple of miles south on Hwy 80. For other options check out our Local Restaurants spreadsheet.
Each accommodation has its own large refrigerator (7.1 cubic ft) for groceries, a microwave, and drip coffee maker. We provide organic single-serve coffee in the rooms that are steeped like tea bags. If you need more coffee during your stay there are extras in the Main Lodge at the coffee/tea bar, which also has organic teas, various sweeteners, and packaged creamers. If you bring your own coffee you will need to bring your own basket filters, too.
Basic essentials can be purchased at B&B Grocery 5 minutes north on NC-80 at 8151 NC-80, Burnsville, NC 28714. They are typically open until 7am-7pm most days (closed on Sunday).
We have a large outdoor grille, fire pits with cooking grates, and picnic tables. Find (and return) grilling utensils to the Community Kitchen. Wood is included for the Main Lodge fireplace, but is sold by the bundle for the outdoor fire pits and grille. Charcoal would need to brought with you.

HEALING HOUSE & YOGA CLASSES
We’ve partnered with Appalachia’s best massage therapists, yoga and wellness instructors, and energy workers to offer services here at the one-room bungalow next to the Main Lodge that we call the Healing House. Arrange sessions directly with each practitioner, learn more on our Healing House page.
We have yoga classes taking place at various times, advance online signup required on our Yoga page. We do have mats, blocks, and straps available for use for our guests. Classes are $15 each.

GOOD TO KNOW
— Please come relax and mingle with fellow guests at the Main Lodge, which is open 24-hours/day. There is a hot water dispenser and an organic coffee and tea bar. The heat in the Main Lodge is automatically turned down at night and during periods of low use. If you use the thermostat near the bathrooms to change the temperature then please consider changing it back before you leave.
— We have outdoor lighting around our parking and public areas, but other parts of the landscape can be rather dark, especially when the moon isn’t out, so please consider bringing a headlamp or flashlight.
— We provide free firewood for the Main Lodge fireplace only, wood for the outdoor fire pits is purchased by the bundle. Extra wood for the fireplace is just outside the door to the left of the chimney, and wood for the fire pits is at two locations outside (see property map). We provide a lighter and feel free to use 1-2 fire starters. Remember to open the flue before use, and once the smoking has ceased please save energy costs by closing the flue with the provided gloves (in case the flue handle is hot).
— We have compiled a list of local activities and attractions to explore, check it out on our Local Attractions page.

GENERAL INFO and RULES
— NO pets and no emotional support animals allowed, other than service or certified assistance animals. Please email us your certified assistance animal documentation prior to arriving so we can alert staff. There are two sweet dogs and a beautiful white cat that live with the retreat caretakers and sometimes mosey over to the retreat, FYI.
— Please do not leave food in your vehicles, on porches, or near fire pits and picnic areas - they may attract bears and other critters. Bears can get into cars, so please lock your car. All food items should be disposed of in your room or in the bear-proof dumpster behind the gate with our logo that's near the entrance to the property.
— There are some private homes adjacent to our 28-acre retreat. Please respect the privacy of those citizens by not crossing over Clear Creek into those areas.
